Why must I allow cable television to rule my life?

Somehow, VH1 has recently made me want a genuine Tom Sellack mustache ride. Really...what? Why? And why have I been examining words like "boobies" and how I feel about those words? I love boobies - I don't know many people who don't - but why am I dissecting their labels to figure out how the labels themselves have affected my own self-esteem?

I watched Extreme Makeover today. I can't tell you how sad it made me. Don't get me wrong - if YOU feel that you need MASSIVE, UNNECESSARY surgery, then who am I to tell you that you're wrong? No, I don't believe that the people behind that show are any more or less evil than any other television magic-makers. I'm not here to bash Extreme Makeover. In this episode, the people working for that show made a man's teeth look really amazing, but this guy was a COWBOY from NORTH CAROLINA. How is this man, who RIDES BULLS FOR A LIVING supposed to go back to his momma's trailer and say, "I'm a real cowboy. I've had plastic surgery, a spa day, and I lost 30 lbs. because my face was healing, and I couldn't eat...?" It made me sad, because he seemed like a pretty nice, normal guy who just couldn't accept what he looked like. ::sigh:: You know, not everyone has to look good. Sometimes, I'd rather see ugly. Often, I'd rather see ugly. At least that way we can get past how great looking you are and talk about something else. The human body is beautiful because it is completely adequate. If your body is merely a shell, why should I care about you?

Wow. Well, I didn't mean this to be as self-serving as it ended up. Sorry. Just, you know...if you're reading this, know that I think more of you than what you look like.
