Statement of NOW PAC Chair Kim Gandy on the Selection of Sarah Palin as John McCain's Vice Presidential Pick

Sen. John McCain's choice of Alaska governor Sarah Palin as his running mate is a cynical effort to appeal to disappointed Hillary Clinton voters and get them to vote, ultimately, against their own self-interest.

The 'Women's Vote' Is A Myth vharris August 31 2008, 17:02:18 UTC
Senator Clinton and Governor Pain are proof that women can and do diverge on important issues.

Most people are totally in the dark about HOW the suffragettes won votes for women, and what life was REALLY like for women before they did.

Suffragettes were opposed by many women who were what was known as 'anti.'

The most influential 'anti' lived in the White House. First Lady Edith Wilson was a wealthy Washington widow, who married President Wilson in 1915.

Her role in Wilson's decision to jail and torture Alice Paul and hundreds of other Suffragettes will never be fully known, but she was outraged that these women picketed her husband's White House

I'm glad Palin is a member of the NRA because I am one as well. It is my Constitutional right to own a firearm.

But, I don't like her anti-abortion stance. I am staunchly pro-choice. I also don't like that she gave tax breaks to businesses instead of hardworking families. Not to say that businesses don't sometimes deserve tax breaks, but I believe that families come first in this regard and others.

She is right to oppose "gay marriage", but wrong to disallow civil unions.

I like that she's for drilling in ANWR, but there must be some way to have oversight so that the oil companies cannot charge an arm and a leg for the oil they will extract. I am for limited price controls in this matter.

The War on Iraq was a totally wrong decision. We should never have gone into Iraq at all. Hopefully Obama will pull troops from Iraq in 18 months after he is President. We should have captured Bin Laden by now, but thanks to Bush's idiocy (he's not the only one to blame) on the situation we haven't.

It is important to fight radical strains of Islam because they pose a great threat to the safety of our country and the liberal values that we cherish.
