Obama quits church, citing controversies

Jun 01, 2008 00:58

"(CNN) -- Sen. Barack Obama said Saturday that he has resigned from the church where controversial sermons by his former pastor and other ministers created political headaches for his campaign."

...

"The resignation comes days after the Rev. Michael Pfleger, a visiting Catholic priest, mocked Obama's Democratic rival during a sermon at Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, Illinois.
In the sermon, Pfleger wipes his eyes with a handkerchief and suggests that Sen. Hillary Clinton wept because she thought that as a white person and the wife of a former president, she was entitled to the presidency."
...

"Some Obama supporters, including U.S. Rep. Robert Wexler of Florida, said that disconnecting from the church signaled a chance for the campaign to move on."

All I really have to say about this is that's it's good to know where the man stands. When the situation becomes difficult, he runs away. Bravo. He can't handle his *campaign* without it becoming madness, how the hell will he run the country?

For the record, I don't think any of the top three Presidential campaigns have been run well this time around, but this really beats all. I can't wait to see what kind of impact this has on those that mark their ballots with one hand...while thumping their bibles with the other.

It's going to be a God forsakin' miracle if John McCain doesn't walk away the winner at the end of all this - at least you KNOW what to expect from him...it might not be GOOD, but at least you know what to expect.

In all honesty in a Obama vs. McCain race, I'm just in it for the laughs because I don't see it ending well either way. I love the Obama supporters that have been pressuring Hillary to drop out of the race for months so that the party can be united behind one candidate. Guess what DNC? I'm not rallying behind Obama. Screw you and your party-line. I'll pretend I'm in one of those fair countries where every vote is counted and "none of the above" is an option and do some kind of write-in.

I'm ranting now and I really didn't want to go there...but since I have, I must mention how pissed off I've become at Nancy Pelosi during this election insanity. She's calling for an end of the race before the convention - seemingly having forgotten that that's what conventions are supposed to be FOR...picking a candidate, not just praising your chosen messiah. It's sickening and I want to hit her. Her and Howard Dean. There's others as well, of course.

Democrats are not supposed to be the ones pissing me off! It's insanity! That's why you'll see more about Myanmar, Egypt and Nigeria here than about U.S. politics...because I get so pissed off it's not even worth it.

To close on topic, that last statement about allowing the campaign to move on is a barrel of laughs. What they're hoping for is an allowance for the campaign to run away from the things that have put it on the defense - not going to happen. People never forget the things you want them to forget.
