I'm in the middle of reading someone's masters thesis (part of our program is that we participate in masters thesis groups where we all read and edit and critique each others work) and I am thinking about the very first beta I ever did.
I was 14. The fic was Fastlane rape/non-con (which, hi the author did not warn my poor 14 year old self for). Van fucked himself with a knife, I think, after someone raped him and Deeq found out. I'm not even shitting you.
I vividly remember telling that author that if someone fucks themself with a knife they're going to need immediate medical attention or they 1: would probably get sepsis or blood infection 2: probably would never shit, have anal sex, or do anything related to that area ever again because of scar tissue. Telling the author that? WAY easier than holding someone's academic future in your hands.
