I feel like conducting is the next big, gaping gap in my musical background. A friend of mine (Jon) promised he'd get me a conducting book when I finished my M.S., so he finally made good on that promise. But I have not yet cracked open said book. Or done much music at all lately, outside of Celtic music jams. Sigh.
I did work through a simple Bach Prelude tonight...first new classical music I've learnt since whenever the last wedding was that I played for... And I played through some of Merrily We Roll Along. I think the folk improvising experience has actually helped with that in some strange way. The weird note clusters didn't seem quite as weird tonight.
