Overlooked?!?!
Background: I live in a council house. On a street of 6 houses. Numbers 1 & 6 are privately owned (with their own heating systems). I am number 5. This estate has hot water & central heating supplied by a "central" boiler house. It was nothing but unreliable when it ran on coal (up until February this year) and in the Council's infinite wisdom was changed over to gas last winter. We were without heat or hot water for 2 months and as we have no secondary heat source - no fire, nothing - my two degus died from the cold.
Now: My next door neighbour (no. 4) told me this morning that during the new pipe-laying scheme which is being carried out on this estate, our street does not appear on the plans. Therefore yesterday we were cut off the heating & hot water scheme. I've just had a very very apologetic project manager bloke at my door telling me to use my immersion heater for hot water & that he will collect 2 emergency electric heaters & deliver them for me. He said they had no idea this street was part of the scheme and as such they don't know when they will be able to connect us up to the new pipe system! He mentioned reimbursement of money spent on extra electricity for immersion heater & electric he
