So I went to see
20x2 at Madam JoJos in London last week. My friend
D was one of the 20 who had 2 minutes to answer the question 'Where am I?'
Being rather full of beer and inspired by the performances, I penned my own poem* in answer to the question. And here it is:
I am nowhere near my destination
But I am miles away from my foe
I can smell the scent of perfection
Despite feeling the strong undertow
I skirt around fear and poverty
And tango with joy and delight
Yet I am within view of oblivion
And in a house on the edge of the night
If daylight is left of security
Then my tent is pitched far to the right
The secret is just to ignore it
And go with the flow that feels right
My soul stakes its own lonely pathway
Through the overgrown world of the east
To the west lies my solace and comfort
To the north and the south lie my grief
Yet my grounding is firm and forthcoming
To preface the place I will be
So the answer to 'where am I' is
'I am where I should be'
I admit I'm a bit of a slave to rhyme and meter, but I thought it wasn't bad to 10 mins work.
*I never write poetry, lord know where this came from!
