a new low

I'm one of those people who has difficulty functioning when not wearing a watch....gotta check it every few minutes. Being dyslexic/disgraphic and now over 40, I need a clean, easy to read watch face. No pictures, no roman numerals and no funky colors. I'm also cheap and not very wealthy. All that given - my watch of choice is a Timex, Indiglo, Easy Reader with a black leather band and silvertone accents. I get a new one every year or so. Usually the watchband gives out first and sometimes if I'm feeling both organised and thrifty, I just replace the watchband.

Earlier this summer I wore my watch while doing some painting (entry room of the infirmary) out at Nawaka. It ended up speckled with white paint. I didn't replace it. I didn't have time and it felt wasteful. Around the end of July my watch died - but the watch band was still in good shape. I found an older watch in my jewelry case that was still kicking but had a dead watchband. 1-2-3 I put the working watch together with the working watch band and I was back in business.

I put buying a new watch (a cheap $20-$35 item) on my to-do list and then forgot all about the problem.

This morning my watch band gave out.

I eneded up TAPING the watch band together with black electricians tape!!!!!!

Pathetic!!!!!

I look like such a loser. Thankfully it is now Fall and I can wear long sleeved shirts - maybe no one will notice?

I can only go shopping on weekend...as I usually get home at 8:30 pm and stores tend to close by 9 in RI.

I have to go to a reunion all day on Saturday and I have a Museum event on Sunday. The following weekend I'm out at Nawaka for 3 days.

My next shopping opportunity is on Saturday, October 15. I'm going to be walking around like a pathetic loser with a taped watch for 3 weeks.

nawaka, shopping, watch, stupid
