Recast (a photography collaboration zine)
This is a photography project I thought of a few days ago and would really like to go into affect. Please read this! This zine will not work without you!
What it's about:
This zine is to be a collection of photographs from all kinds of people. However, it's theme is to recreate an old photograph. It can be an old family photograph, or possibly one from hulton archives if I can get the rights (I e-mailed them about this yesterday & have yet to get a response). It can either be recreated to a t, or just a more mordern representation of it with the poses or theme/mood still attached.
What I need from you:
Pictures! At this stage, I would like to collect any photographs I can obtain the rights to for this zine. If you have any family photos that I could use for this project, this would be great. Either scan them at a high resolution (300 dpi or more) & e-mail them to me at girl@dorkish.net or you can snail mail them to be at my address & I can scan them & mail them back to you. The first thing I would like to do is get as many photographs as I can into a collective, and then they are available for photgraphers to chose from if they do not have photographs of their own to copy. They can be however old, just nothing post 1980 if possible. These photos would generally have to be with a person or people in it, as well. If a contributor has a photo or photos of their own they would like to use and do not need the collection to chose from, that is fine, just e-mail me the photo(s) so I have them for the zine. Also, please keep in mind that I will probably be ordering hard copies of the photos sent to me. I will give you credit where credit is due, naturally.
Later on, the photographers would have the photo(s) they would recreate. One person can recreate more than one photo, but no more than three. I have no idea how big the zine will be yet, so the exact size is not known for sure, obviously. But if I get a lot of interest I may have to turn away some people.
