It comes in at the end of End of Time with Tennant's Doctor regenerating into mine, but since I could have a more direct hand in who the next Doctor would be I was able to make regeneration more then a genetic die roll.
Girl!Doctor didn't just happen, but touches on the stories core elements. It IS the core element really. The journey that the Doctor took to the point where the next regeneration changed genders, where she'll travel from that point.
Through the Doctor's internal thoughts (the luxury of printed story) as well as the companions AND the villains (some from the Doctor's past and some not) the nature of the gender change is explored both on psychological, even spiritual levels as well as some ideas I felt cleaned up regeneration mechanics.
While the story does build to a conclusion looking at the completed work I realized I wrote a sort of "pilot" for a new series I am planning to expand upon. So not all elements raised are settled, but that is deliberate.
More nuts and bolts the sex and violence are both present, but minimal. It wasn't any sort of squeamishness on my part as I pride myself on letting the story go where it will and not watering it down, but in this case this part of my Girl!Doctor's journey while she is now a woman and more sensual her sexuality wasn't terribly touched upon beyond some nudity. flirting, and some cheeky humor.
I'll give a list of known characters (The three main villains are my own creations) Jack, Martha, Mickey, Gwen, Rhys,River Song, Father Octavian, MetaTen, Rose, Pete, Jackie (those "impenetrable" walls are anything but and I built a door).
Closest to a ship is Doc/River, but the mystery is still there.
I CAN say more if it's needed, but anyone who's truly curious can email me at wyldchilde37@yahoo.com and I'll send you a copy. You give me your thoughts and any typos you see and I'll give you a beta credit.
