The little things....

Ok, so today has been an amazing day. Nothing huge happened....but what did happen meant alot to me. I had just gotten finished with my hour long interview at a daycare (which went really well, wont know until tonight if I got it or not), and I was at a bus stop waiting for my bus which was to arrive in 10 minutes. A cute little old lady came up to me and asked me if I knew of any nursing homes in the area. I told her I didnt, the only ones I knew of were up on the plateau. She had no idea what I was talking about. It turns out this sweet lady was lost, she went for a walk today, and got lost, and didnt know the name of her nursing home. I immediatley felt a need to help her. I couldnt just get on my bus and leave her lost. So I sat with her and asked her questions...and still couldnt come up with anything. She just couldnt remember anything, had no ID on her, no paper work or phone numbers to families...so I waited for my bus driver to come so I could ask him if he knew. Well, when he showed up he didnt know of any in the area either....so the best thing I could do was call 911. So I did, and I stayed with her and talked with her untill the police came. Luckily all they had to do was take down her name...Brita Winder....such a pretty name.....and he found her home. I almost cried, I was so relived that I knew she was going to be ok. She is 86 years old...born in 1918 (she told me) the nicest old lady. Its sad though, cuz she has no family in the area, said her daughter recently put her in this nursing home...and she just looked so sad. I want to adopt her as my grandma. I want to go visit her and bring her cookies and flowers, and talk to her. It makes me sad to think she is alone. Im just glad it was me she ran into this morning.... and even though all I did was sit with her and give up two buses home.... It's something big to me. What if she just kept on walking? And got more and more lost? She was so quiet, and shy.... *sigh* ok, well, all in a days work. :)
