So many tests.
So many things to learn.
Do we learn?
What do we learn?
How do we learn?

Do we close our eyes in "feigned ignorance"?
Pretend that there is nothing there,
Yet deep inside we know there is so much more to life.

When a heart has been hurt,
Disappointment wells in the soul,
Dreams are dashed,
And hopes disappear.

When the test you thought you were taking
Suddenly turns for the worst.
Learning things unwanted,
Afraid to take the next test.

Wanting to just barely slide by
Afraid to put meaning in life,
Afraid to put your heart on the line,
Afraid to be broken again.
Afraid it won't be what you want.

Knowing life is still good
Knowing you are ok
Yet still afraid to take a risk again
So afraid to trust.

How do you take that step?
How do you find meaning again?
How does one try again?
How do you learn to trust?

When the person you are seems so far away
Not sure where you are or where you are going
Going through day to day, pretending you're ok
That nothing is wrong, and life is "just smashing"

When you know you can be better than you are
But you're just not sure how.
