It Sucks to Burn the Tip of the Finger

Apr 23, 2004 00:40

I burned the fingertip on my left middle finger.  I needed to remove a cookie sheet from the oven and there were no oven mitts, so I used my leather gloves, which would have been fine, except that I forgot that the right hand glove has a few holes.  Ouch.

So now everything involving the fingers is a bit of an adventure.  Typing isn't so bad, mainly because my nails are long enough that I can strike with the nail instead of the pad.  Washing my hands is tough; I need to remember to be gentle.  Preparing food is a real pain in the ass, because it involves heat, which makes the wound a bit tender.  Also, showering may prove to be interesting once I get brave enough to do it.

I was making scones, by the way, when I burned myself.  For what it's worth, they came out very excellent, better than usual, in fact, which is awesome considering that I was making them for Lilu for the first time.  I left her the resultant batch, for her and her roommate, along with a set of wooden spoons and a mixing bowl which I had bought because she didn't have any.  I think I might let her keep the spoons and bowl; call it a housewarming gift.  I want to enable her to do more cooking at home.

I just wish I had grabbed a few of the scones because I've got a hankerin' for one right now.  Ohh, they are so good.

I have the same damn headache I had when I got out of bed at noon.  I think I need to drink more water, and stop clenching my jaw.  *grumble*
