It’s called symbolism, yaknow, like the language that you use every single day? Letters are symbols, words are strings of symbols that represent an object, concept, whatever needs to be expressed, etc. Are you going to say that using symbols to communicate means that communication is impossible? No, of course not. Wearing purple symbolizes recognition that “hey, it’s okay to be gay.” We can't change the past, but we can change the future by showing people that there ARE non-homophobic people out there who care enough to take the "effort" of choosing clothing of a certain color for one day.
I understand it’s annoying to some people to have it everywhere all around them for ONE DAY but imagine the victims of homophobia who are surrounded by homophobia every single day of their lives.
