What a great weekend

I rowed on the Charles River in Boston this weekend, and it was freaking amazing. Dartmouth took sixteen frosh lights to Boston to row in the foot of the Charles Regatta, run by MIT, I think. We started at the MIT boathouse with a gorgeous view of the city of Boston (not to mention where I used to go sailing with my dad when I was about six or seven years old) and ended at Harvard's lightweight crew boathouse. Harvard's campus is beautiful, and MIT's is a bit overbearing. They're both pretty awesome. Rowing on the Charles has to be one of the coolest things I have ever done in my entire life. I want to do it again, but even if I don't, I know that I have, and that it was awesome. I don't know that I can accurately portray to you just how amazing it was to come through the BU bridge and have your legs burning, with over 1.8 miles to go. Just overall awesomeness. Even though we didn't beat the Harvard B boat, our A boat killed Harvard A, which was stacked with 8 recruits. Our first boat had all six recruits and two walk-ons, and they beat Harvard A by nine seconds. They were #1 overall for lightweight crews at the Foot. Oh yeah, the weather was unbeatable today. Just amazing. I also rowed right by the hospital where I was born. My mom had a view of the Charles in the room where she gave birth to me, and I got to row where she was looking nineteen years ago. Quite odd, but also awesome.

After the race today I spent time with my aunt and uncle who live outside of Boston. It was a good day. They fed me a home-cooked meal with apple crisp and Dunkin' Donuts. Awesomeness. Coming home, I traveled on the Dartmouth Coach from South Station in Boston. Pretty easy, overall, despite that I was fairly confused as to what to to do for a while, since the Dartmouth Coach leaving for Hanover didn't show up on the list of outgoing buses from the bus terminal.

Hope everyone is doing well! I hope I get to see you all this Thanksgiving!
