Week SeVEN! Mansfield's Manor...

Dwelling and delving a bit into Mansfield's childhood I touched on my own:

WhAT Ever diD We dO?

Deafening Silence surrounds me, head pounding
Struggling to close my eyes wide shut
Lying still, streams diverging and merging memories flow
branded boldly beneath
A seemingly collected exterior, a euthanasied interior
What ever did we do?

Kindergarten-first day of school
Mrs Orpwood sternly sweet
Eleviated by my cousins, the FEAR
for we were the three Musketeers
bonding together, partners in crime, unimaginable feats
What ever did we do?

Minutes, hours,days just flew
Musketeers disbanded
To different realms, out of reach
just because our codes we would not breech
Codes of conduct we were handed
What ever did we do?

Death surrounded me as I grew
Why did the depart just as I arrived
Playing, Teaching, Reading, Listening, Laughing
Mourning, Black Sorrow, Inconsolable heavy aching heart,Starved!
Alone I stood, would I thrive
What ever did we do?

Saturday morning down to Mr. Lau
Cobbers, jubes,lemon sherberts, eclairs, frogs,
chocolate umbrellas, SOS, rainbow ball, black cat, turkish delight,
The collection strewn on the floor, what a sight
We observed, apprehension, choices, claims the chocolate log!
What ever did we do?

Perched high on the ivy covered fence, park bin in clear view
The bin is our wicket and umpire for games
Cricket, footy, soccer tennis and tag
Roller skating, hockey what a time we had
Or just lying in the grass giving clouds names
What ever did we do?

The Grand Walker Estate our playground too
Graceful majestic horses standing tall
Secret garden adventures and treasure hunts and more
a quick dash for a glug down to the corner store
Laughter and fears, sweat and tears, reconciliation for all
What ever did we do?

Families of our own, thoughts we hid
Storytelling of adventures past
And how we wished for longer days
Never bored, jam packed action full of play
Reminiscing of days gone past and how we wished they would always last
Revelling in life's joys and sorrows is what we did

These two pictures are of the Walker Estate in Concord West, anyone can visit. This was the Walker's Summer residence and their Winter residence was Rivendell at the end of Hospital Road where you are able to visit also.
