My lovely, loveable laptop has died.  The hard drive has completely failed. If I take it in, they should be able to recover some of my data.  But i don't have the necessary equipment to do it at home.

This is worrisome become I haven't backed up my computer since mid-May.  Stupid, I know.  Bye-bye updated resumes, cover letters, proof of job ( Read more... )

computer, grumbling, rant

I'm sosososososoososo sorry. I hate it when technology fails us. I had the hard drive on my mac fail about 6 months after I got it. (My friend's daughter tripped over the cord and it fell on the floor). I lost all my education word from the first 2 years in that accident. And in my case it couldn't be recovered. :( I'm glad yours can at least. And that you were wise enough to back it up. :)

I keep realizing more and more things that I've lost if my data ends up being unrecoverable. I'm just so frustrated over the whole thing! But your situation sounds WAY worse, so in a sick way, it actually makes me feel better, lol!

Dang. That really blows. I'm crossing my fingers that you can get it all back and have the lap top up and running again in a timely manner.

I'm glad my pain made you feel better. Here's something else that might make you feel better - even after all the report card comments I wrote today I somehow feel like writing so right now I'm working on my next DW fic... It involves a remote control and several mishaps... *giggle*

Hee. Here's a preview to cheer you up:

“Fantastic. Absolutely fantastic.” The Doctor dropped the tool he'd been holding and it landed with a clang on the TARDIS floor.

“What is it?” Rose asked, coming over to the console, where the Doctor had been tinkering for the past hour and a half. She rested her hand on his back as she peered over his shoulder to see the palm-sized, silver object that he was holding.

The Doctor turned to face her, grinning broadly. “It's a remote control.”

Rose frowned. “A remote control for what?”

“For the TARDIS of course. Thought it might come in handy sometime. Never know when we might need the TARDIS in a hurry.”

“Does it work?”

The Doctor gave her a disgusted look. “Of course it works. I made it.”
