2010 End of the Year Awards! And the Winner is...

Dec 27, 2010 03:04

Is it that time of year, already?? Wow. Okay, well here we go… First off, I want to say how thankful I am.  So many things contributed to making this the best year of my life (so far).  I’ve had incredible opportunities and met some truly amazing people.  Thank you.  Thank you.

Thank you.

But enough about that, let’s get to it!

WELCOME TO THE 2010 AWARDS!!!

1) DRINKING BUDDY OF THE YEAR?

Roomate X & Roommate Y.  Whether it be Downtown Fullerton, Hollywood, the Banyan Residence, we know how to party.  Looking forward to another year of modelos or tequila with squirt ;).  Also, the regulars who kick back after a night of ElecTRONica.  I think all the extra money I earned from working more all went toward paying my bar tab.  Totally worth it.

2) LIFETIME SERVICE AWARD

This one is hard (yeah yeah that’s what she said).  Of course there are always those people who even though I didn’t talk to a lot this year, I know will always be there and things will pick up exactly where they left off: Chalani, Olivia, Carina, Nicole.  Also, surprisingly (but maybe not), Johnathan.  Most of all, there is one person who has really stood out this year as being an unfailing, true friend, who I’m SURE I’ll be in contact with no matter where we go in life: Dorian.

3) NEWCOMER AWARD - COOLEST NEWEST FRIEND?

Adrian, Vickie & Gonzo, Rob, Debbie, Mo, the wonderful cast and crew of The Women, as well as the cast and crew of ElecTRONica.

4) HIGH POINT OF THE YEAR?

Performing in Hearts for the Arts at the GEM Theater, my sister FINALLY turning 21,  climbing to the top of Vernal Falls in Yosemite with Nicole, becoming part of a band, Performing at the Whisky A GO GO in Hollywood, going out to the lake with my family for the first time in years, playing Alex in The Women, FINALLY learning to play the guitar (plus the day I bought my own beautiful Big Baby Taylor), going to see a band, then being asked to perform with them =O, being made lead of ElecTRONica and spending the holiday season with the cast and crew, & most recently Orphan dinner.

5) LOW POINT OF THE YEAR?

This has been a great year.  I’m happy to say that I’ve experienced very few low points, but here they are  January: heartbreak.  July: The 4th, and the night and weekend of the Whisky show.  October: The ordeal of finally getting my guitar (3 months, 2 weeks and 2 days), and December: burnout.

6) BEST HOLIDAY?

Orphan Thanksgiving with Dorian, Channie, Luis, Mandie, Terrence & Titou.  It was small, but I was happy the be with the people who have really become part of my family away from family.  Channie made a delicious meal, we all said grace and had a lovely evening.

7) YOUR SONG FOR 2010:

Artist in the Ambulance: The song that got me in the band, Remember: The unsung song on our set list, Way Back Into Love: First song I learned on the guitar, Separate Ways: ElecTRONica theme song, Andy Grammer’s Keep Your Head Up: Not my favorite song on his set (Stores & Numbers), but the one that caught my attention and always cheers me up when I see it.  Most importantly, it inspired me toward my own path of song-writing and the kind of performer I want to be.

8) MOVIE FOR 2010?

Didn’t see too many movies this year, but let me throw out: Tron (The first one), and Black Swan (Wow)

9) BEST KISS?

Toss up between the one in May, and the last one I had.  Both times, it’s not so much the kiss as the circumstances in which it occurred: Naturally.

10)YOUR BIGGEST CRUSH?

Fish 2 & The T-Fish

11) WHO DID YOU SPEND VALENTINES WITH?

The Cast & Crew of Hearts for the Arts.  What better way to spend it than surrounded by so many people who share a love for the same thing.

12) WHAT WERE YOU FOR HALLOWEEN?

Indian.  Again.

13) RESTAURANT OF THE YEAR?

Guadalajara’s 24 Mexican Food. Tacos at 2am with the roommates.  Sooo good.  And…that one place on Lincoln that I go to on my way to work sometimes.  Swearing it off, though, next year because I ate there way too much.

14) BOOK OF THE YEAR?

King Dork, a modern-day Catcher in the Rye.  I highly recommend it.

15) BEST DECISION MADE THIS YEAR?

Not to transfer or quit in July, (though I came pretty close). Cutting my losses, emotionally when it was right.

16) WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS FOR NEXT YEAR?

I actually had a plan as of my birthday.  I made this whole outline, the way I do every year of what my goals were for 2011.  But in recent weeks, I’ve discovered that this plan doesn’t work for me anymore.  Every day that goes by, I’m more and more sure of that.  It’s just not good enough.  So I need a new plan.  Back to the drawing board because I have a feeling, I just KNOW, that this year is going to be BIG.  There is one thing I’m sure of though, and that’s that whatever I do, I need to tackle it head-on.  Not only am I going to take the next step, but I’m going to take the plunge. I’ve got 4 days to figure it out, but January 1st, it’s ON.

17) MOST STUPID IDEA WHEN DRUNK?

July 4th.  I somewhat broke the platinum rule.  You know what screw everything I said before.  THAT was the low point of the year.

18) TV SHOW OF THE YEAR?

Boardwalk Empire

19) MOST LOYAL FRIEND OF 2010?

Article 69.  Dorian.  Duh.

20) BIGGEST CHANGE OF THE YEAR?

My direction as a performer.

21) BIGGEST douchebag AWARD?

The Little Boy Dressed Up As A Man.

22) NEW YEAR RESOLUTION?

To make it count.

23) Most Memorable moment for 2010?

Juliette and Dad surprising me at the Whisky A GO GO, my first night of ElecTRONica Dress Rehearsal, my Little Mermaid moment in October, watching Dorian wrap presents as I was decorating and realizing… “Wow, we’re Santa”.
