I started packing at 2am. Finished at 5, woke up at 6, got to the airport at 7am sharp. I'm an experienced traveler so I knew I had it all together. I'm getting ready to check in at the Southwest counter when I hear my name being paged. Crap, what the hell did I do?? Turns out I left my purse at the curb and someone was kind enough to return it. How lucky am I? Cute coach purse with my wallet full of 200 dollars in cash, IDs, make-up (My 38 dollar lip infusion from Sephora *sob*), and above all---my ipod (and 40 dollar Sony earbuds). I've lost my purse tons of times and I somehow always get it back. People in San Francisco are kind and return things.
The plane ride was brief. I slept the through take-off and landing. Afterward we made our way to the hotel and then stopped at a farmers market for lunch. I walked the 20 ft from the van to the Brazillian BBQ where I loaded up my tray and realized to my horror that my purse was gone. Yep, not even an hour in LA and someone ripped me off. What a welcome!! First thing I did, call Dad, the CIA agent (I suspect). Yes, I shed a tear or two, but I tried to keep it down since the people at the food court were glaring at me. Maybe it's because my sniffling was bothering their lunch or maybe it was because I kept saying how much LA sucks. So I spent my lunch calling the bank, trying to get money wired (but oh, it's Sunday and banks aren't open), and trying to find the lost and found. Psh. Yeah I'm not getting my stuff back this time. And I'm too sick to eat now.
So we head out to the Hollywood museum. I was over it in about 45 minutes. The best part was seeing Hannibal Lector's cell. It's 3pm and we have 2 hours to kill on Hollywood Blvd. Meet back here at 5pm! What am I going to do for 2 hours and no money? I called Matt who gave me some stars to find. A quest! I set off to find Kermit the Frog, Bruce Lee, Jim Hensen and Gene Wilder. It didn't take me long to find Kermit and Jim, and even though I found every OTHER Gene, I couldn't seem to find him, or Bruce Lee. But I found Journey!
I actually had a really good time in front of the Chinese Theater, watching the characters and the B-boys. There were several Captain Jack Sparrows, Freddy, Spider-men...Mike Myers. I paid my respects to Charlton Heston and the many other signatures. I discovered where I could purchase a great array of naughty footwear and strap-on ons, should I ever desire them. All in all, I had a pretty good time, penniless on Hollywood Blvd.
Todd loaned me some money for dinner and for 9.95, I got sweet and sour soup, an egg roll, tempura, chicken friend rice, and Kung Pao chicken. The portion was enough to feed 3 people! So I have dinner for the next two nights. =D
I get money wired tomorrow. And I'm sad about everything I lost. But I did a pretty good job of entertaining myself so the day wasn't a whole waste. Hmmm....
Okay bed.
