Title: I’m Sorry
Summary: Simon and Kaylee had an argument, and he has to apologize.
Pairing: Simon/Kaylee
Rating: PG
A/N: For Star, sorry that it took so long. This is my first ever Firefly ficlet, so be kind please.
Simon Tam stared longingly in the direction of the engine room. He wanted to talk to Kaylee.
“Last time I checked I pay you to fix people not decorate the hallway,” stated the Captain.
“Wait, did you decide to actually pay me now?”
Mal shrugged. “Well I figure letting you and your sister live on this ship and keeping fed counts for something. Least ways I don’t think you can heal people as well when your mind is a million miles away.”
Simon shrugged, “I appreciate it Captain. Really, its just Kaylee.”
“Did you hurt her feelings again?” Because I thought smart little rich boys like you would know better.”
Simon wanted to disagree, but found he couldn’t.
“I need to apologize to her.”
“If I let you go, will you come back and actually be of some use?”
“Yes!”
“Then go, but don’t be all day about it.”
Mal laughed to himself as the doctor ran off.

Simon walked quietly into the engine room, hoping the hum of machinery would cover his entrance.
“I’m not speaking to you.”
She always knew when he was around.
“Kaylee, you just did.”
She scowled at him. “Well, I’m not going to any more.”
She walked away from him, absently twirling a tool in her hand. She began tinkering with the nearest piece of machinery.
“I came down here to apologize.”
Kaylee said nothing, but she was listening more carefully now. She figured he wouldn’t be saying sorry for days.
“I’m sorry.”
“For?” She prompted him.
“Being an idiot, hurting your feelings, and general foot in the mouth type of things.”
She turned to face him smiling. “Well, that wasn’t so hard was it Simon?”
“Not really hard no. Its just you’re so pretty that I can’t think straight when I’m around you, and words seem to get lost coming out of my mouth.’
“That’ll do,” stated Kaylee. She crossed the room, and threw her arms around Simon. He kissed her softly, and she returned it.
“It will save a lot of time in the future if you just agree with me on everything,” teased Kaylee.
“Whatever you say,” agreed Simon.
“Do you have some spare time Simon?”
”Well, the Captain…”
”Mal can wait.”
She kissed him soundly and he forgot all about protesting.
