Everyone else is ranting about NOLA, here is mine...

The tragedy in the gulf states seems to be bringing out the best in people and the worst in people. It is true that desperate times call for desperate measures.

A call went out to sportsmen with flat-bottomed boats with outboard motors to come to aid in the rescue of people in flooded areas, and the fishermen came out to help in droves.

My employer, Accenture is donating $100,000 and will match employee donations up to another 100,000. The total donated to date by my co-workers is $250,000. I pray it will help.

I also understand the need for the basic necessities of life, and I can sympathize with people stealing food, water, diapers and other goods from convenience stores which are probably a write off anyway.

But I was astounded to hear about increasing incidents of people carjacking ambulances. I heard a news report that a supply helicopter could not land on the roof of a hospital because there were 100 looters, some armed, waiting to steal the medical supplies.

Now, the looters are stealing guns, and drugs. So the police and the national guard are being told that they can shoot anyone on sight if they are looting. Anarchy and a police state, here and now. Things started to literally explode this morning. What next?

I am deeply concerned. I am heartbroken. I am livid with rage. Where will it end?

Rant off...for now
