I REFUSE TO BELIEVE IT. That's seriously just...crap. The guy can't die. The guy is already dead. There was more of a tether on him than just his body. And he was definitely the most interesting character in the show - Gwen's a cheater, Jack's a whore, Ianto's a robot; you don't really see a whole lot of sides of them. Jack's always just...Jack, except for the rare moments where his ages-old tearducts engage. And Ianto comes in two modes: tea boy and desperate 'i can has luvinz?' would-be boyfriend. Owen? Owen had snarky bastard; he had sweetheart; he had gentle fiance; he had stubborn-as-a-mule asshattery; he had knowledgeable doctor and caring friend and womanizer and lover and gentle and caring and hopeful and hopeless. He had actual character depth. I like to try and believe that Davies has more of a brain than to permanently off the ONE character with growth just so he could have the woofters and the cheating wife.
I hope they at least put some more Rhys on the show and make him into something other than a fat bastard. That guy has it so hard.
I ALSO JUST REFRAINED FROM MAKING AN MCR REFERENCE. BE PROUD.

i'm sorry they killed off your favorite character, but there was probably a reason for it. i don't know what it is or was, but they think these things through, you know? it might have been that burn gorman wanted to move onto other things, in which case they had no other choice.

do not like rhys. sure, props to him for sticking with with gwen in all her horrible person-ness, but he's just kind of skeezy. i do ship him and ianto though. it makes so much sense in my brain.

I AM PROUD OF YOU. I DON'T UNDERSTAND, BUT OKAY.

Yeah, I know, but still. There's not a whole lot of logic behind it, and there were so many unanswered questions that I can't get over how they would just...off him like that. It's not even that he's my favorite character (even though he is), but the fact that there was so much they left unsaid about him.

I like Rhys, actually. He got to be a lot less of an ass in the second season. And all of the shit that Gwen put him through? She really doesn't deserve him at all. It's like, 'hey, as if I'm not enough of a cheating whore, I'm going to drug you and then tell you about it and you'll forget, and then I'm going to work long and awkward hours and leave you here by yourself and you're still going to get up every morning and make me breakfast and not ask questions, and when I show up PREGNANT on our wedding day you're going to be completely cool with it (something that I STILL don't understand), and then be cool with the incredibly attractive guy who I spend more time with than you dancing with me and getting all handsy. Because y'know, ignoring our supposed significant others in favor of the EPIC LOVE OF ANGST THAT COULD NEVER EVER BEEEEEE is just totally what makes good sci-fi.'
I don't even get where the Ianto/Jack relationship came from. Was JB just like "yeah, GDL? Hot piece of ass. Can has makeout scene or 80?" or did Davies just assume that he'd get more viewers if he had canonical gaiety?

IT WAS REFERENCING SOMETHING YOU DEFINITELY WOULD NOT GET. MOST OF THE FANDOM IN GENERAL DOESN'T GET IT. JUST KNOW THIS: BRIAN SCHECTER SHOULD GET A LOT MORE LOVE THAN HE DOES.

their whole dynamic frustrates me.
actually, that's what happened. jb was like "i... would like to tap that. can has?" and they were like "kay."

WHO THE CHRIST IS THAT?

It makes me angry because it's just like they could do a LOT with that. They could show that they're tender together, or they could show that they're really only in it for the sex, or they could show YanYans getting way too attached and then sulking when Jack goes off to flirt with Gwen/the rest of the world so you think Jack's just a bitch, and then something happens to Ianto and Jack does something EPIC and HEROIC to save him giving up a portion of his immortality or something, and then John comes in and kills him the rest of the way, there's a couple of episodes of Ianto and Gwen sitting around crying and looking at photo albums and sighing wistfully and saying "I wish he were here, why oh why isn't he here, o angst" and John being a bastard and trying to sleep with Ianto and he finally succeeds by forcing him and then BY SOME MIRACLE THAT ONLY HAPPENS IN THINGS THAT STEPHANIE MEYER AND DAVIES WRITE, Jack comes back, kicks John's ass, and makes out with Ianto with a 'clear conscious'.
Season three of Torchwood, right there baby.

Ahahahaha, John Barrowman.

Brian Schecter is MCR's manager. He's sort of insanely fly.
This is him. Note the last panel. That is my new catchphrase.

i think that they can't really center a show around you know, the gaysecks, but are kind of letting it speak for itself. i mean, they certainly haven't vaguely hinted at it. but then the entire fandom has so much more to go on, and so many more interpretations of what's going on with them.

so i tasered them into it? or my life, so hard?

That entire show is based on the sex, are you kidding me. It's like "here, have a bit of nonsensical sci-fi jargon, a few throwaway references to Doctor Who, and the rest of the show I will be tarting about with the nancy boy while secretly pining for Gwen."
I just want answers. I really don't want to see Jack and Ianto settling down and getting married and Jack resigning himself to monogamy because he 'can't have Gwen oh baw cry moar', because that's definitely not in character of Jack. Ianto, yes. Jack, no. But a lot of fics don't pick up on that and I really want people to see that this man is, above all, a giant ass. Which they can't because it's, oh ho ho *fluttering eyelashes* John Barrowman and therefore he can't do wrong.
Also am I the only one who found Burn Gorman more attractive than JB or GDL?

MY LIFE. SO HARD.

no. i mean, mainly it is just gratuitous fanservice, but not all of it is based on sex. that is a point to it, but so is the nonsensical sci-fi jargon. there may be no morals to it and no greater meaning, but it is not all about sex. i'm not saying that people don't watch the show just for the sex, because they certainly don't watch it for the plot, but i don't think that's what the creators intended.
and i just don't think you've been reading the right fics. i have read some of those, but they've always been what i wanted to read right then. i have definitely found some fics where jack is well characterized.
but people read and write the kind of fics they want to, or they need. and i think that the show provides just enough sex for people to have concrete evidence that things are going on, but little enough that they can create whole backstories and episodes of things that are going on.

i did not find burn gorman all that attractive. john barrowman neither, he's just too... john barrowman. gdl i do like, though.

There are better fandoms to choose from if you want happy squishy romance that will throw the characters you're writing out of character.

GDL...his forehead and nose combination bothers me. Like, a lot. The only thing attractive about him is his accent. And I think that "Barrowman" should be officially used as an adjective, meaning excessively over-the-top and flamboyant. The actions of the man at the bar were so Barrowman so as to be far more laughable than attractive.
