something to think about...

Dear Uncle Pierce and Aunt Ruth,

I looked at a map today to figure out where St. Augustine is and how far you've made it down the East Coast from your start in Annapolis. And I realized that it is a long way down Florida, and then a quite longer way from Florida to Tortola. There is a long ways to go-- and you've come a long way in a short period of time!

But, just for speculation's sake, I expanded the map and saw that once you get to Tortola, you are over halfway to South America. So you could explore Inca ruins for a while and learn some sweet Salsa dancing. And once you got to Brazil you would be practically next door to Africa and should take the short sea passage across the narrowest part of the Atlantic to see the Ivory Coast. (Is it really made of Ivory?) Of course, by then it would be a waste to not visit Spain and Morocco and Greece and Egypt, and then, well, you're right at the Suez and might as well skip through to see Mecca. (Oman!)

By the time you've got to Mecca, it seems logical to go shark fishing in the Indian Ocean (that's where the most Great Whites are), which brings you tantalizingly close to India, the setting for 3 of your favorite games (I'll let you guess which...). Don't think I'm suggesting this or anything, but once you get to India, wouldn't it be a shame to miss Aunt Ruth's brother in Indonesia?

Just something to think about. Because, well, by the time you got to Indonesia, you'd be practically halfway around the globe and might as well pull a Magellan. It wouldn't really matter, except that I was thinking a post-college-graduation vacation in Hawaii would be fun, and visiting you guys seems like a reason my parents would approve of. (Of course, visiting you guys is fun ANYWHERE.) But, well, Hawaii... I mean, er, just something to think about.
