So, yeah. This:

This is a crazy, crazy time. I don't even know what to say.
I refer to NY as The Crucible. There wasn't much to do here other than work on ourselves and our relationship.* It was the right place at the right time, and we are each separately--and together--better for it. Holy crap, though, it's time for that to end and for life to begin again. Our time in NY was a huge investment in K's career which we never expected to pay off the way it did. Differently, sure, but we never imagined it would in such lasting ways.
I will miss volunteering at the archive and my project. I will miss sunsets over the Palisades cliffs and the Hudson. I will miss deep, powdery snowfall which doesn't shut down life. I will miss Blue Hill and the Stone Barns Center for Food and Agriculture. I will miss my book club an knitting group. But I won't miss New York.
*Truly, this is a hard place for people in our age group. A single friend-of-a-friend commuted from NYC for 5+ years. Because of his long work hours, he moved to a town very close to the office. Miserable, he feared that if he moved to Westchester single, he would stay single. Now he *also* rents an apartment in Brooklyn which he only uses on the weekends. We can't blame him at all.
