To be a Satanist, you don't actually have to believe in Satan. Satanism generally focuses upon the spiritual advancement of the self, rather than upon submission to a deity or a set of moral codes. Do some research if you immediately think of the satanic cult stereotype.

Yes, I suppose satanists, much like those of the gothic sub-culture, have simply been misunderstood. They never really meant to come across as they do, - truth be told, all they really want in life is "spiritual advancement", they're a most devout and moral bunch.

In fact, the inclusion of the God of fucking evil in their deeply philosophical, self-bettering faith isn't actually of any relevance at all! They just sort of threw it in, you know, to allow for more profound moral spiritualism and solid adherence to a just set of principles. Satanists are good (albeit misunderstood) people! Fuckwit.

Of course I may be wrong, and followers of a set of practices which has long been reported to result too often in the death of small animals and infants could actually be genuinely misunderstood. Yeah.

Religious Satanists are followers of an ill-founded and weakly supported faith, almost entirely devoid of any moral or historical basis, and teenage gothic fucks - the “dabblers” seek, it would seem, first and foremost to rebel before giving any real thought to the purpose or implications of mindless vandalism, - and destruction of objects of far better supported religions.
