My band director just told us what we're going to do for our band show next season.
If copyrights work out, we're doing music from the musical Miss Saigon. I've played it before and completely adored it, plus I'm a huge fan of Claude-Michel Schonberg's work(he wrote the music for both Miss Saigon and Les Miserables).
Miss Saigon takes place in communist Vietnam and is about a Vietnamese prostitute(Kim) who on her first night on the job gets raffled off to an American GI(Chris). Drama and sex ensues(Kim's cousin is in the communist army wants to marry her, Chris gets Kim prengant, Chris goes back to America and gets married to another girl then comes back, yada yada yada) because this is a musical after all. Also, I've seen bits and pieces of the Broadway performance recorded and the best part is definitely the French-Vietnamese pimp.
Won't get to see my music until June, but I'm psyched! Hopefully we'll do something fun with it :D
