pretty little liars
Okay, so the other day I watched the pilot for this new show Pretty Little Liars, and since I've never actually been in the fandom for a show since it's beginning I thought I'd do so for this show. I'm having loads of fun, the people on FF and LJ are so nice so far :D I thought it would be cool to write down my initial thoughts on the show so as the season ends I can see how I've changed.
I really enjoyed the show, it's like a mixture between Desperate Housewives and Gossip Girl! It's definitely not for people seeking out a well-written and structured show, but hey, it's fun and good so far. I really like all four of the main girls, I can't decide whether Emily or Aria is my favourite. Spencer/Wren is cute but seems kind of forced, but I like the plot with her and her sister. It seems to fit with the character and that frustration of always being in the shadow of your sibling isn't explored enough on TV; although I can't relate to it, I know not all siblings are close like most shows present. Emily's girlcrush story is a bit boring, but I find it interesting that she has a BF - I'd like to see where they go with that. So far it's the weakest SL imo, but it was also the least-explored and the actress who plays Emily is charming enough by herself anyway :) Aria/Ezra was definitely the best sub-plot, the actors had enough chemistry to pull off the love-at-first sight cliche imo, but their biggest success was not making the relationship creepy. I already love them together <3 The Alison plot is great and obviously the driving force behind the show - it's definitely a strong SL and I'm sure the show will do well with it.
