So last year was the first year that I trained for 5K races. I ended up doing 4. Glow Run (never again), Run 4 Blood (for Lifeserve), The Rock 'n Run (Metro Arts), and The Chocolate Run (from Chocolaterie Stam).
I did okay, but learned some things about pacing and also which type of runs that I like better. I decided that I would try to keep with local runs and stay away from them ones like Glow Run or Color Run for a couple reasons.
So this year will probably be 5 runs.
Starting with the Garmin Run in April down at my mom's. Mom wasn't able to walk it, so I ended up walking the whole way with my cousin. (My aunt and I were going to run/lope/go fast, Mom and cousin were going to walk it.) So I don't really count it.
* Run to Exile - Exile Brew/Restaurant. I timed out at 43.35 came in 195 out of 234
* Run for Blood - Lifeserve Blood Bank. I timed out at 40.45 came in 113 out of 129
My goal for one of my 5Ks this year is to do at least 38 minutes. Would like to get to 36, but that is a 12 minute mile.
I have at least two more runs this year.
Metro Arts' Rock and Run on Sept 20th. This one is harder for me since it is in the afternoon.
Stam's Chocolate Run on Nov 15th. Ends with hot chocolate...honestly don't care when I finish as long as I get their hot chocolate. :)
I think I could get at least one or two more runs in. At least one in October. There is another run in September that I may also look into.
5k,
