Well! I'm finally making my triumphant return to lj posting after an extended absence. I've been reading my flist, and I've been active on my various communities, but it's been awhile since I've posted here. So what have I been up to since then? I've been working! Things are going really well at my job, and I'm picking up more clients and more hours and feeling more and more settled into the work. Today was one of those very fulfilling days that make me happy I work there. I played a card game with a couple of the clients, and it was great to see their faces when they got closer to winning. And I got sooo many hugs and took one of the clients outside to find out what the weather was like. And I helped another client make a paper fish stuffed with hay to hang on the classroom's ceiling, and she usually complains a lot but after I was done and helping someone else we all saw her playing with the fish and laughing. :-) Feeling the love there is so great! As an added bonus, I am now officially making enough money to cover my own expenses, and no longer have to worry that I'm spending more than I make. Hooray!
I've also been taking a full courseload of summer classes, which has been pretty interesting. There's been so much work, but I think things are going well. I signed up for fall classes this weekend, and except for the second part of my teaching practicum all my classes are online. This is fabulous because it means I can be free as needed for working and can maybe even do fun things a couple nights a week--like join the choir and take dance classes! It would be wonderful to have that outlet for my energy.
So are you wondering about the 30-day meme that fell by the wayside? One of the reasons I actually originally hadn't been posting was because the next topic, religion, is such a complicated one. I had an entry planned out, and as I was preparing to post it everything got thrown out of whack because of the whole Harold Camping end-of-the-world fiasco. Then I just wanted to write an entry on how angry it made me that people were using that as a blanket excuse to be like "oh, see, this is why religious people are crazy" and laugh at people who followed a religion, just because someone did something stupid and a lot of people blindly followed him. So eventually my entry was going to include my thoughts on Harold Camping, my experience through life regarding religion, my almost-minor in Religious Studies (concentration: Judaism, though it didn't actually happen and most of the classes I got in were actually in Eastern religions) in college, how both Judaism and Christianity have affected my life, links to things that have influenced my views on religion, and probably even more than that. I can still write that entry, if people are interested in it. But for now, I'll just give you the short version.
Day 04: Your views on religion
Uhh...it's complicated. :-P
Now I'm strangely wired, which is not good because I have to go to sleep now so I can get up at 7:15 for work tomorrow! I'm going to get ready for bed and then try to become tired. :-P
