Everyday
I go hunting for jumping spiders in the middle of the island. You take
a big insect sheet (kite looking thing) and then hit bushes and trees
to see what falls onto the sheet. Or you can sweep the ground with a
huge net.
We
took a trip to Tahiti for a few days. This is a picture of Mo'orea (where
I live) from Tahiti. It was from this view that Darwin came up with his
coral reef theory on barrier reefs. See the line of waves breaking in
the pic? That's the barrier reef, which creates a lagoon inside. The
older the island is the more time the coral has had to grow. Younger
Tahiti is only surrounded on one side, while Bora Bora (one of the
oldest in the chain) is completely surrounded and the actual island has
practically been eroded away. On the way over on the ferry I saw
humpback whales and flying fish, which propel themselves amazing
distances in the wake of the ferry.
I
have always dreamed of jumping off remote waterfalls and going swimming
with all my buddies in stream pools. Did you know that actual
waterslides exist? I went down some pretty scary ones. Luckily I didn't
find any giant eels here. In other news I love the new Franz Ferdinand
album, and the new Darkness single (thanks to Griffin) and am getting a
healthy dose of cowbell. I am sick of baguettes. Eri I will always
remember your birthday, because you would write in my binder DO YOU
KNOW WHAT OCT 5th IS? IT'S ERI'S BIRTHDAY!!! Soo happy birthday reee.
