I have been doing a lot more things than before, when it was winter:
1. Playing in a band with Mike Harpring and Matt Tobey that is uber-exciting because we gel musically with no work and I like to be around them all the time.
2. Playing in a band with Andrew Restrepo and Donovan retooling Andrew's songs from acoustic to full band. Not as easy going but still fun.
3. Playing drums in Pretty Hot, although not very much right now.
4. Will be playing in my Band-in-a-hat drawn band featuring these random people: Matt Seymour, Sherri, and Keith. Have to be ready to play the talent show June 1st.
5. Doing lots of prep work to write a presentation/paper for the Prophecy 2007 Harry Potter Conference in Toronto Canada. Crystal, Jolene, and I submitted a proposal that got accepted for FORMAL PROGRAMMING which basically means LOTS OF WORK but will get me into something I haven't experienced yet, which is to say WEIRDO ACADEMIA. No really I'm stoked on this but we have to interview about a million shitty Harry Potter themed bands in the next couple of months.
6. Finally finishing the insert to the One Reason/Because split 7" here in the US so it can come out already. Japanese version of the 7" has been out for months.
7. catching up on a ton of other one reason shit like mail, songwriting, websites.
I've also picked up a couple of extra days at work, which seems like a good idea but isn't because I can't stand being at my job. Right now we are doing an extra 100,000 dollar job of all the art for every hotel room in this giant resort. We already had plenty to do with our regular orders, so now we have to hussle twice as fast and everyone is on edge at work, but we get no bonus or any thank you for all the hassle. So while the owners are raking in this new shit ton of cash they have the nerve to issue the rule that the thermostat can't be turned down past 73. Today at work I was literally sweating all day long because the owners picked an arbitrary number to be handed down to a workplace that they are never present at, to save themselves 10s of dollars a month. The owners who have 4 cars, a vacation home, a 35 foot yauht, and vote republican. MOTHERFUCKERS. Everyday before I go into work I see a Los Gatos Negros stencil of Ronald Reagan with a cat face spray painted on a stone in front of the building and it really bucks me up. UP the PUNKS. FUCK THAT PLACE. My new plan is to take surveys for money. Joe Biel says it is a somewhat reality. That's not my only plan but I've decided I'd rather be poor this summer than work there much longer.
I had a great time visiting Detroit this weekend but I for real missed bloomington. It was only a couple of days. WTF? Bloomington isn't that exciting but I love my people here so much that I can't stand to be away from them at all now. I'm all soft.
