So, I've actually got some resolutions for the new year. Of course, by doing this I'm breaking last year's resolution to make no New Year's resolutions.
This year, I resolve to:
Get a haircut
I generally only get my hair cut about 3 times a year. I whack it off incredibly short and then let it grow into a tangled mop. This time I've been saying

When any item such as those above comes to mind, I make two entries: One is the date I remind myself to book the doctor's appt., etc. The other is the actual due date. If you put a reminder on your calendar on, say, a Saturday every three months, those haircuts may have a better chance of staying on schedule. In my birthday reminder madness, I also put the birthday on the calendar, and then a reminder two or three weeks out to send a card. This may be good for big family occassions you don't want to miss - reminders for phone calls, trips, and phone calls in advance to plan the trips!
Me being me, I also include things like when to order my credit reports every three months and when to change the filter in the water pitcher in the fridge. That is admittedly overboard, but it's surely the only way these things will get done.
In the same spirit, I used this method for some of my Christmas shopping this year, and it worked really well for me. At the start of last year, I made lists for Ian and my mother on the back of my December calendar page. Every time I thought of a gift idea for them, I wrote it down. When it came time to start my shopping, I had lots of ideas and didn't need to wrack my brain. This next year, I'll expand that to some of my friends since they usually require more creativity on my part anyway. This year, for example, very few gifts are going out to friends I'm sad to say. I just couldn't get it together in time. Live and learn.
See you tonight,
