I'm sure I have mentioned my suspicions about my house being built on top of an indian burial ground.. Well long story short. My house was struck by lightning AGAIN last night. We lost our nice big TV and my computer(on a surge protector).
1. The first incident I can clearly remember happening to my house is the high winds off the back end of a tornado. This was 1997 when all the tornados came through Dunwoody. We lost 28 trees one of the largest which fell into my bedroom giving me a nice new skylight. We were in a hotel for the better part of three weeks. If that weren't enough I had my first pass out while you sleep diabetic experience. Very fun...
2. Next came the first lightning strike. My mom and I had just pulled into the driveway. I looked like the bottom was dropping out of the storm so my mom wanted to wait in the car for a moment. I said, "No, let's go inside." Right after you heard the click of the lock the ground shook violently. We looked outside, and lightning had struck a tree. That tree pretty much bisected my first car(a 1973 pontiac lemans that I never got to drive) and my mom's car that we had just left. My head would have been in my stomach had we stayed in the car. This tree also pulled the main power line to the house out. In any other normal house this would have caught it on fire and pulled the breaker box through the roof, but we had around 30ft of slack just lying in our attic so nothing happened. Why couldn't the house jsut burn down so we can start over with a new one.
3. Blizzard of 99... We lost power for the better part of a week becuase the electric company couldn't get to us. We lose 5 more trees to frost and ice.
4. Water heater nearly rotted the floor while we were out of town.
5. A garage door that never works no matter how many we get.
6-15. Various appliances that should be nowhere near ready to die leaving us for the great dump in the sky.
16. The great flood from earlier this year put us in a hotel for a little while.
17. Now this
So if you read all of that I'm sorry if I sound like I am whining. I'm not. I'm just exasperated, and I know people go through much worse on a daily basis, but I don't really want to hear baout all that right now because that would just make me want to go jump off a cliff with no parachute all the more.
Have a good day...
