BIO:
Pre-Project:

Gilroy's parents met in college and fell madly in love. Mary, Gil's Mother, met Sean, his Father, while they were both in their senior year of college. Sean was an Irish exchange student, who's charming brogue swept Mary right off her feet and clear across "the pond", much to her family's disapproval. It was only once they were settled in Ireland that Mary found out Sean was more than just a charming man, but a member of the IRA. Gilroy was just a baby when a bombing attempt against a government building went wrong leaving Gil an orphan. He was sent back to his Mother's home in Boston to live with his Granny, Martha, but before the child landed in Logan Airport, his Granny suffered a devastating stroke that put her in a Rehab and completely unable to care for the little boy. Gilroy found himself in foster care at this point. The young Irish boy with flame red hair was soon lost in the system. He barely remembers his parents, just a vague memory of a pretty woman who called him her "Little Gingerbread Man".

In Project:

His hyperactive nature and creative and rebellious streak that never let him settle in any home too long came to the attention of the Gingerbread House as just the sort of child that might find the structure of the GHP as a place to thrive in the stability of their program, and  thrive Gilroy did, quickly falling into the persona of The Gingerbread Man. His compact, lean body lent it self to running and run he did, gaining startling speed and agility. That agility making him almost impossible to hold on to and giving him a Houdini like ability of getting out of traps, handcuffs, straightjackets and nearly anything else anyone would with to tether him down with. He also enjoyed an almost imperiousness to heat and flame, much like the Gingerbread Man who sprung alive from the baking hot oven. This came in very handy given his training with incendiaries and bombs. A natural ability he picked up from his father.  There was one draw back to these amazing abilities, he developed an almost crippling hypoglycemia. His body burning through calories at a rate almost as fast a he moved, giving him an almost insatiable sweet tooth. He learned early on to always keep a pocket full of hard candies and sweets with him no matter where he is. He also developed an annoying habit of crunching them as he ate them. Candy ginger and red hots have always been a favorite.

After Project:

When the GHP ended, Gilroy was returned back to his Granny who had been trying to no avail to get him out of the system once she had recovered from her stroke and was back on her feet. The boy she got back, she had only met once when he was a newborn and neither knew what to make of the other. Granny was a chef and while recovering from her stroke spent her time not with the physical therapist writing a cookbook, which went best seller, namely, "Granny's Goodies". This deal netted her millions and gave her the financial stability to start her own bakery where Gil spent most of his time trying to reintegrate into the "real world'. His "notion" that he was the "Gingerbread Man" of fairy tale,  as explained to Granny by the psychiatrists she employed to help her grandson, was simply a delusion he used to help him cope with the death of his parents and her abandonment of not being able to take him in when he was brought from Ireland. Six years of therapy and nearly as many psychiatrists later, Gil learned to keep his mouth shut about what he really thought about anything and simply agree with them. He kept what he thought were his memories tucked far back in his mind and after High School, they started to resurface when he applied and was accepted at Westminster Kingsway College in London earning his credentials as a professional pâtisserie chef. He began to focus on building stunning gingerbread houses of fabulous fairy tale scenes. Gil found himself spending more and more of his time alone as he baked, building these fantastical landscapes in sugar far quicker than should have been possible. He never noticed when he pulled hot pans from the oven without worrying about the cumbersome oven mits, working with the hot gingerbread, shaping it without the need of tools to guard his fingers against burns. That was until he got startled by another student, jarring him out of his thoughts and badly burning his hand from the hot pan he was holding. Gil is careful now not to let others in when he's working now so not to jarred out of his thoughts and disaster. Now, back in Boston, he's back working in his Granny's shop. His gingerbread creations causing a stir in all the local culinary magazines. He misses the people he keep spinning in sugar, but has no idea where or even if they are still around.
