Here’s a few pages from my art journal- I have two in progress that aren’t quite finished yet, so I’ll share those next week.
“it feels like fall”
For some reason I have been taking a boatload of photos lately, so my pages are kinda photo heavy. I guess I just wanted ot capture the little things that indicate fall is finally here. This is REALLY my favorite season, I pretty much wait for it all year like a kid waits for Christmas. So I’m into the sensory part of that, and I wanted to capture stuff like shadows and colors and the way the sky looks…
“it feels like fall”
I started out by just laying the photos on a few sheets of Basic grey paper, but I didn’t love it so I grabbed some paint and smashed it on with my fingers, added some washi tape, alpha letters, flower stickers, etc. I finally called it quits and added the little journal bits.

I also smushed some gold paint on top of the brown letter stickers. I moved my little caddy of paint to a space next to my desk and now I find myself reaching for it on almost every page. I love finger painting, I really do…
“(yes, I am) paying attention”
This is the background I showed last week, with photos on top. Again, all about the sensory stuff of fall.
“(yes, I am) paying attention”
The way the house looks in the morning, with the windows open… Ginger asleep next to Gracie’s journal, left open mid-thought… a seed packet from my garden… a receipt from some fall teas I ordered.
“(yes, I am) paying attention)
and some fall color and bloom outside and some journaling about the things that sort of yell “AUTUMN” to me (cooler weather, earlier sunsets, holiday catalogs in the mail, shadows in the afternoon, the garden coming back to life, more dolphins in the bay behind our house, pumpkins at the market, etc.)
The flowers are some old K&Co that I had forever- I sort of tore them apart and applied to brown ink and then glued them back together a little bit flatter. And washi tape, of course…
It’s Friday, so I’m blogging
over at Sprout. I ordered some seeds a week ago and was expecting them to arrive much earlier in the week. They didn’t, so I wound up getting some other things done, which turned out to be a blessing. Extra time to plan is never a terrible thing when it comes to the garden.
Thank you, as always, for looking and especially for commenting. I’m truly sorry I haven’t been so great at responding to comments lately. I seem to be online less and less these days and when I am online, it’s to do work-work or look something up for Gracie.
The homework stuff is still an issue around here. She really wants very concrete, deep explanations of things- not only how things work but WHY they work. Ever try and explain not only how pronouns work but *WHY* we use them to a six year old? I have to re-educate myself on SO many things so I can explain it to her if she has questions about her homework, which she does.
In other news, it’s Gracie’s seventh birthday this weekend! Pretty amazing stuff. I’ll probably have some photos and stuff next week.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
