april art journal pages…

Here are some art journal pages from the last week or so:

wow, blurry! sorry!

This is the first page from my new art journal. I went a little bigger with this journal, which, oddly enough, made it a little more challenging. My last three journals were 8 x 5″, so just a few extra inches and it threw my whole approach off. But challenge is good, right?

I actually got my prize from American Crafts (I won the “Gardenia” line via a giveaway on their blog) right before I started working on this page, so I used a bunch of it. I also wanted to use my Jenni Bowlin banner punch, which I love (but never used before), even though I suppose by now it’s trending *out*. Oh well, I plan on using it a lot. Trends be damned!

page in progress...

Page I worked on yesterday, so it’s totally in progress. If it changes a lot, I’ll post an update. I know I want to add some elements and bind some journaling in the middle. The hummingbird image is from a Teavana mailer I got. I loved it when I got it, but after I glued it down I STOPPED loving it, so I just went with it rather than pull it off the page. I watercolored over it and then played with inks and stencils and paint around it.

The page on the right was fun- I just used my paint dabbers and spray inks to make some drips.

"there is no map..."

In case you were interested, here’s the cover of my latest art journal with my new “mantra” on it. The funny thing is that the cover was in progress when I had my little “a-ha!” moment about the map thing, so I just rolled with it.

last page from March

Oh, and I think I forgot to post this- a page from my last journal, end of March. Even though the page didn’t come out anything like I had planned, and I wound up leaving a ton of photos off it that I had intended to include, it was sort of fun to just dig through my stash and glue stuff on as I found it. I need to do more of that. More *play*.

Thank you, ALWAYS, for looking. <3

I also have a new post up at Sprout. Go look, I posted some pretty pictures.

And, in case you missed it, I had a post this week at Bliss Habits about some of my “Awful Truths”. If you ever wondered why the heck I don’t reply to email or snail mail, you might want to check it out. It doesn’t make it okay, I know, but I figured I would *try* and explain it.

Have a lovely weekend. I’m going to try and post a “One Little Word” update but my main goal is to keep creating so I’m putting everything sort of secondary to that. I want to keep up the momentum.
