hodge-podge and haberdashery!

Hello friends,
It's been a while.

So, first things first... I think we may be putting a deposit down on an apartment tomorrow night. It's in Somersworth, NH, which is quite a bit further from the seashore than we had hoped (20 minutes instead of seven or eight steps), but which also seems totally more our style. After seeing a bunch of rather scuzzier places, this one seemed like a dream. It's an open-concept style place with chair rails and huge high ceilings, big brightbright windows everywhere, and it's above a bakery and across the street from the Portsmouth Tea Company and the river. It has a washer and dryer, ceiling fans, and heat and hot water are included. So, it's very nearly a yes. More on that as the story unfolds. (If you would like to visit this apartment on Craig's List, assuming they haven't deleted the post, here it is.)

In other news, my pal Ashley called me the other day to ask if I would be her wedding photographer this October! Yay! I mean, admittedly, I have no earthly clue how to be a wedding photographer, but I am very excited about it. Plus, it means a free flight to Portland, OR. AND it means that I'll need to upgrade my camera-stock... which is fantastic. I've been wanting to get some kind of digital SLR for a while now, and this may provide just the perfect excuse.

I'd like something like this...

With, like, 10+ megapixels and a killer zoom
or something like this...

However, I also have been jones-ing for one of these puppies:

A Lomo Fisheye!!

And now for something completely... you guessed it.

Hello garden clogs. Hello green Subaru.

I had a yard sale/bake sale on Saturday. I made so much stuff. Holy moly. This is my Toasted Sesame Toffee Crunch. But I also baked four crusty baguettes, two loaves of my great-great grandmother Costello's Irish Soda Bread, Dill-Chive Buttermilk Biscuits, Gingerbread Scones, and Miniature Organic Chocolate Chip Sliver Cookies. Whoa.

I heart old trucks.

At the Bliss house, we plant clover.

Aaaaanyway, many of these are Oatmeal By Noon photos, but I thought I'd share them anyway.
