Do you feel that you were born with a predetermined role in society? If so, how do you feel about it

Interesting question, there.

It's a little scary, when you think about it, if we do have a predetermined role in society. I want to have a say in what I do with my life. I don't want to be following someone's great plan.

If I was born with a predetermined role in society, then the year I was born, my life just fitted in like a piece of a jigsaw puzzle to the life that Toby leads. His life depended on me being born.

Predetermined role in society ... by who? God? I thought he was supposed to be an all around nice guy. What kind of nice guy would let a baby be born so they can grow up and work for a gumpy old scrooge?

A little different from my previous mood, I know, but the coffee has worn off. Mainly because Bonnie wouldn't let me anywhere near the stuff. She was watching my every move!

Does she have a predetermined role too? If she does, it can't possibly be to make sure that I don't get an overload of coffee after four and a half hours of sleep because Toby stuffed up.

It would make life much more exciting to know that things haven't been planned already for us. That way, the role that Jed Bartlet now playes is a little more worth it. I think we choose our own paths. Wouldn't it just be pointless otherwise? We're all just doing what someone else says. That would never work. I don't know what the force is, but it cannot possibly control every single person on this planet. And if it did, what's the point? Making everyone do something that they're expected to is just boring. We all do unexpected things. We do things impulsively, and that's why we make mistakes. That's why people die suddenly. That's why the world changes so dramatically. It's also probably why Toby is smiling at Will right now ... what's going on there?

I wonder if Toby thinks he has a predetermined role in society ... safer not to ask him. Let's see what Bonnie thinks ...
