Going to the movies

Just so dizzy_duck won't feel alone when her kids play Titanic:

This is the very latest of Son's work. He's fascinated with Titanic and is reading everything he can get on the subject.

Apart from kid's movies, I haven't been to a cinema in over two years. In the past weeks I have made up that in spades. I've seen I Am Legend which I actually liked. I didn't think I would, as I have heard so much negative comments about it. It didn't have much of the novella, but I never compare movies to the books. And I haven't seen The Omega Man, so I can't compare there either. It was a bit too much monsters jumping out from the dark for my taste- I fear Janne had bruises on his arm from when I pinched him. But I didn't shout out loud as he did... But apart from that I liked it.

Not as much as Sweeney Todd though, which I REALLY liked. I like Tin Burton and I like Johnny Depp to begin with, and I never disliked Helena Bonham-Carter. And there was Alan Rickman too. I'm not a big fan of musicals, and the idea that there is a musical about Sweeney Todd, of all gruesome legends, is a bit disconcerting, but I liked it anyway. And I thought the costumes were great.

And then I saw Cloverfield, which I liked as well- which is surprising, as I don't usually like monster movies. I've hear it compared to The Blair Witch Project, which I haven't seen, but I wonder if they really are so alike? Apart from being “filmed” by one of the actors and left to be found later. It was fun to watch a movie where you didn't recognize the actors.

And tonight I'm finally going to watch Stardust on DVD. :-)
