I looooove this movie! I'm easy that way... It doesn't have an intrincate plot, it doesn't have the best actors in the world... BUT, and it's a great but for me, I had a lot of fun watching this romantic comedy. The lead couple have chemistry... and another important thing is that the main lead actor is...
Daniel Henney.
I'm in love!
I knew him as a model but hadn't watched any movie with him. What took me so long!!!
Sorry for the massive pic spam. There are several extra caps of Daniel because I couldn't help it.
Min-June (or Min-Joon) is a girl that dreams with enjoying life with a boyfriend by her side. She believes in love... but doesn't have luck with her boyfriends (nothing new here).
One day she bumps into the car ahead of her driven by the hottest man ever. He speaks in English she doesn't speak English so he takes a picture of her and gets her phone number to contact her so she can take care of the bill.
He ends being her new boss (you didn't see that coming, eh?) and she does speak English, or at least understands it.
Even after the initial uncomfortable situation, they started getting along, or that's what June thought.
Robin's mission in Korea is to close the buying operation of a Japanese company with economic troubles. He has June in his team.
Soon, June discovers that they don't have the same vision about relationships or love. Robin thinks love it's just a game you have to know the rules of. To June, love is something that hits you like a bullet and you can't do anything but doing everything in your power to show the other person that you care.
Robin is the one that mentions June that her boyfriend may have something to hide after he doesn't show up at his own private birthday party with June.
June finds out her boyfriend is cheating on him while she waits for Robin in a restaurant.
Robin tells her that she gets dumped because she doesn't know the rules and that way she's going to keep being treated like trash by men(not what June wanted to hear right then). She says that she could have any men she wanted. Robin challenges her to get him to beg for her. She gets a plan in her head to do so.
She tries several strategies with no success: dressing up for work, cleaning his office, appearing at his hotel late at night...
...she doesn't get what she's after but Robin trusts her with an important part in the negotiations for getting the company they're after.
Their first big misunderstanding. She left him a note, she thought he didn't see it, he did and he waited for her at a bar... meanwhile she was in an horrible blind date that she wanted to get off from... so she hid in the bathroom... just when he calls her.
That's the moment you start seeing that Robin may not be invulnerable to June's charm. He shows it being angry or indiferent toward her.
So, June tries another thing: getting very sexy and provocative for a coworker birthday party.
Robin tries to ignore her but can't help to take a look.
He tells her that she looks like a showgirl and she challenges him to a drink game. The one who loses will pay for the party. She loses.
He doesn't believe in love but he's a perfect gentleman and takes her home.
She wakes up and see the hottest of the men in front of her, so she kisses him and he kisses her back.
She doesn't remember a thing but a coworker tells her about the drinking and she feels ashamed and tells Robing that he should forget everything that happened the night before because it was a mistake.
He's mortified because he thinks she means the kiss.
After a great time together where some misunderstanding between them get solved, they come back to their office to find... June's ex. She introduces Robin as just his boss and decides to give her ex another chance.
As she doesn't want this time to be the same, she askes Robin for some clues of how she should behave so she doesn't get dumped and also be the one in control. He can't do other thing than help her.
She follows the rules he gives her but she realizes they don't work for her and neither does her renewed relationship. She tells Robin about it and for the first time, he's sensitive enough to say the right thing at the right moment. June is confussed.
She learnes that Robin is leaving because the buying operation is finished. She also discovers how ended Robin's first love experience. Some other misunderstandings keep her for telling him her feelings for him.
Before leaving Robin has to close the operation. He takes June with him. She is the one that makes it possible, showing him in the process that she cares for him.
He apologizes to her for any pain he may have caused her and the obvious finally happens. The (happy) end. *squee*
The female lead is Uhm Jung-hwa -who is quite lucky because she always gets to star next to the hottest Korean men (she stars with Oh Ji Ho in Get Karl! as well). I don't know why but she fits quite well in this kind of part.
The OST is fantastic. The main theme is sung by Daniel (I also love his voice) with another singer. You can find it
here (found via
chipskjaa's blog at wordpress).
I really really recommend this movie if you like romantic comedies with misunderstandings and happy ending.
