I've been experiencing a lot of joy lately, so I guess that means I'm on the right path...
I didn't post yesterday as I had to leave work early and thus did not have time.
So, here is the wrap up of my weekend:
Friday
Friday I expected to meet up with Crystal (and her boyfriend Mike) at Martini Red. However, she said she wouldn't be there till fairly late, so I planned to go earlier by myself to check out the band.
On the way home, I called her to confirm, and she called me back as I was getting off the train at the ferry terminal. It turns out she was on the boat I was about to get on, so we were able to talk for the ferry ride and subsequent bus ride. However, I did not end up seeing her at Martini Red, so I don't know for sure. Michelle (the bar owner) did tell me she had been there earlier, but I was in the back listening to the band and she either didn't see me or didn't look for me. Anyway, before all that happened I helped put Ana to bed and got dressed for the night. Deme and I decided on my wearing these ass-hugging jeans I have with a cute pink sweater, and my pink corset and matching panties underneath. I had my hair in a bun with two strands hanging down in front. So I felt pretty good going out. And horny...really really horny, had been all day. :-D Anyway, I caught the bus right away and stopped in the Muddy Cup for some coffee first - with soy milk of course! And no sugar, this is the third time I've had it that way, I'm getting used to it. I sat down with the Village Voice for a few and drank my coffee while reading. I figured I would need the coffee to get me through the night - and boy am I glad I did! I headed over to Martini Red when my coffee was done, got carded of course (at 26 I barely look 19) and ordered a Michelle-style Long Island Iced Tea. Which made it my only drink of the night! Seriously, I would have thought it was a huge drink if it had been only water, and it was *strong*. All for only 8 bucks. Did I mention I love Michelle? Then I headed back and listened to Happy Anarchy playing for a good while, standing with everyone and moving to the beat a little. Anyone who knows me knows it's hard for me to keep from at least swaying when there's music on, even though it's taken me years to be able to dance in clubs lol. When the bands switched out I took a seat by the bar in the back, and later asked this older woman to watch my drink so I could go to the bathroom. I had only had about a quarter of it and I was already tipsy! Partway through the second band, a cute black guy walked up and sat next to me, talking to me a bit. When the band ended we talked some more. He was attractive, but I had my mind on Crystal still, so I wasn't really focused on him. After a while, I figured I had probably missed her at it was pretty late, and headed up to the bar to ask Michelle, who confirmed that I did miss her. So I kept talking to Solomon. At this point we touched on politics and some other crazy shit, like how much the government monitors cell phone calls. When 3:30 hit, I knew I needed to go home, so I mentioned that I had to go and catch the bus, at which point he offered me a ride home. First I verified that he had had only the one beer (no drunk driving for me, thanks!) and then I called Connie and left a message with his license plate number. Because I just don't know you like that, and anyone who is going to be offended by my being cautious is not someone I want to talk to anyway. He took it in stride though, and we laughed about it. When we got to my house (which is not far at all by car) we sat and talked for a few minutes. I think he kissed me just a little then, and I was about to get out when he mentioned something about my hair being long. I told him it's actually longer than he thought because the front is somewhat shorter than the back, so I took it down for him to see. Man did he love the hair lol! After *that* we ended up making out some more, and then some more...and then I was a bit regretful of my "no sex on the first date" rule. (My rule exists for almost purely safety reasons, namely that of the two places - his or mine - mine has my kids and babysitter, usually my husband, so that is out, and as for his place, I need to know you a little better for that.) Finally finally FINALLY after much kissing biting groping and a bit of fingering I dragged myself out of the car to get home just before SIX. I feel like I'm in high school again - this is the second Friday I've ended up making out for two hours! If you had asked me three weeks ago, I would have assured you I no longer had the patience for that. But my First Date Rule gets in the way of moving further, so...there it is. Anyway, I made clear to him that I am not looking for a relationship, and he said that's great as he is a stockbroker and works all the time anyway. So we exchanged numbers. Thus far he has not called me, and I have not decided yet when/if I will call him. I like him a lot, but I am not really about chasing people around right now. If you want to see me, call me. Otherwise, I am still out there meeting people, hopefully several people! :-p
Saturday
I got to "sleep in" till 10ish as Deme was there and took Ana out tot he playground. For those doing the math, yes, this means I got a little over 4 hours of sleep. Luckily, ever since having kids, and especially the second time around, I am able to kick it out with very little sleep on occasion. I got up, cleaned up house and self, ate breakfast, and got dressed. Deme got back with Ana and we all got ready to head into the city. We left by quarter to one. We all got to hang as a family on the boat, which was nice, and then I headed to my reggae workshop. It was a lot of fun, we did soca and reggae both, and in heels which was awesome. Did a little dance at the end, all in the hips and ass of course, and all about the Attitude. Left to meet up with Deme and the kids again at BArnes and Noble. Somehow, we just missed each other as he was in the bathroom with the kids, so I was waiting upstairs for him not knowing he was there. I browsed through
this book on Dita Van Teese, half Burlesque and half Fetish. I mostly only got to read through the Fetish section, lots of pics, GREAT book. Totally reinforced my desire to switch 100% to stockings (as in, with garters, not pantyhose). My only limitation with that is my lack of funds, alas. It did make me laugh to read that Miss Teese goes through 4 pair a week! I can relate to that, so few are the days I wear them that they make it home in one piece. I also browsed the
The Ethical Slut, which I will be purchasing posthaste. I headed downstairs to check, as it seemed awfully late, and there they were! We all went and got some yummy Chinese food, and headed home. Deme had purchased some great jewelry to wear to the
Complacent Nation party he was going to that night. We still were unable to set up his phone at that time. We went home, he went straight to his house to get ready and go right back out again. I went home, put the kids to bed, and followed immediately thereafter. I needed to catch up after the night before! And I still had to do chores plus buy a dress the next day.
Sunday
I got up on time with Ana, and bundled her up to get breakfast at the coffeeshop downstairs. The woman owner knows everyone in the neighborhood, and I had promised Deme after
the bus stop guy incident that I would get to know some more people from my neighborhood. Well, as my luck ALWAYS seems to run with that place, they were closed. I don't understand, they are NEVER closed when Deme wants to go there! So I ran back upstairs, grabbed the diaper bag, and headed to the diner by my mom's house. While waiting for the bus I began to wonder if we would make it - it looked to start raining really soon, and I had not grabbed an umbrella. I figured my mom could bring one for me just as long as we could get on the bus before it started. Luck was on my side this time, and we just made it before the rain. My mom joined us with an umbrella, and informed me that she had spoken to Michelle (her/our friend, not the bar owner!) and she and her kids (Deniz and Su, both of whom Ana love) would be joining us. It was a lot of fun, and the kids had a blast but didn't go too nutty. We hammered out a plan for my buying a dress for that evenings
Derby Taunt Ball. (Theme: Black White & Red Eighties Prom Party) The plan was, Michelle would drive the three big kids and my mom to my house, where she would babysit, and Michelle and I would take Eva with us to
Everything Goes Clothing, our local nifty non-religious commune owned thrift shop. Turned out, ETG was closed. I called Deme in a panic, and we decided to try the Forest Avenue strip mall as Asa was heading to Payless there for shoes anyway. We lucked out - the Danice $10 store apparently never made it OUT of the eighties! I picked up a white fitted tank top with shirring in the front (kind of like ruffles...) and a black tiered f*cked up looking skirt. Found the perfect pair of Teal Glitter Slingbacks for nine dollars at Payless. I LOVE these shoes! Together with white fishnets and my black corset over the shirt, and a side ponytail, and lots of jewelry (henceforth referred to as
flair*, I was READY for the party. First though we got some food and then I had to run home, pump milk for Eva, go to the laundromat, run back and change and leave. All in less than 2 hours. And I made it! Had to call up Deme for advice on what
flair* to put on. I don't have much left since decluttering a while back. His answer? All of it! He also brought a gold coin and chain belt for me to wear. Met up with Asa and Deme at the boat. Everyone agreed I ended up with just the right amount of
flair*. We got into the city, bought some makeup for me, went to Ricky's to "sample" some crazy blue eyeshadow, and proceeded to the party.
*Three different links...
This party, again, is one Deme, Asa and I were invited to (along with a few others from our old crowd) by Tala, Asa's ex-girlfriend (she also dated Deme at one point but not for as long.) So our first order of business was to locate Tala and her husband, Liam. When we walked into this place, we realized all these girls were wearing white dresses with red sashes across them (a la Miss America). Turns out, the sashes were marked with their Derby Girl names, for instance Tala's is Medula Oblongata, then there was Bettie Deserved It and Twisted Fister. We checked our coats and looked around the main floor, then headed downstairs. Still didn't see her. The we realized there was an upstairs as well. We found them upstairs, which was the "garden-esque" area, complete with a table top fish pond and palm trees. It was also much more brightly lit with no music, so people went up there to drink and talk and smoke. We found Tala right away once we got upstairs. Is it horrible that my first thought was "I look AT LEAST as good as she does..."?? OK, maybe it is. :-p By the way, it turns out that other than the Derby Girls and the male announcers, most people did not dress up. Which made the fact that I did all the better. :-D So we all sat and chatted for a while, then got to see Irshad and Andre who had also come through. It was awesome getting to see them all again - you would never know Irshad had lived with me for a year (and had a threesome with me...) from how he never calls me EVER, but then he's that way with everyone so I'm not offended. Around 9 Tala had to go downstairs to get ready for the naming ceremony, and we all headed down a short while later. Can I mention again that, in particular, those shoes with the white fishnets were So Hot? Anyway, it was then that I looked to my right and saw a black chick with a great afro. I took a moment to go over and tell her it was beautiful before I joined Tala's cheering contingent. We all crowded in there to watch all the Fresh Meat get brought on stage one by one and given their team assignments. It was a blast and everyone looked fantastic, at least, I know they did from seeing them later - I was too short to see much of the stage lol. When it was over, most people went back upstairs but we all stayed there and danced for a while. It was great - Deme in particular is a fantastic dancer, the guy that all the girls line up to dance with. I always have a great time dancing with him, and I have pretty much gotten over my nervousness about dancing in clubs over the past two years. In fact, I was dancing my ass off while I was pregnant with Eva at Martini Red! At a certain point, we all started to head upstairs, I think to find Tala again. This was when Asa pulled me aside and said that he wanted my goal to be to fuck one girl from each of the four leagues. ;-) I said I am down with that. But as we headed upstairs I got distracted by the girl with the afro again (her name is Leslie, it turns out) and I went over to talk to her. I had pointed her out to Deme when we were downstairs, so I laughed when a few minutes later he walks by, pausing only to whisper to me "Damn! You got to her first!" When she went upstairs, I went up with her. SHe bought a raffle ticket on the way up. Once upstairs, I looked around a bit with her and then went over to where Liam was sitting. I teased Liam about not dancing for a while. I did get him up out of his chair to go downstairs, but then I selfishly abandoned him to go talk to Leslie, who was still upstairs. Plus, I didn't want to really flirt with Liam much, I thought that might not go over too well with Tala. A few minutes later a guy joined us (her boyfriend as it turns out, Jason), a cute white guy with a little bit of a
Sark-ish look to him. The three of us talked for a bit, I was getting some good vibes, especially from Jason, and then I went down to the main floor looking again for Tala and Liam, and because they had just announced that the raffle would be taking place. They followed a few minutes later and stood by the bar, where they were in a prime locale for the raffle drawing. As it turns out, they stayed there the majority of the night. I hung out with them and talked once in a while, also with "their" Derby Girl. Sometimes I thought about going and dancing, but I wanted to be sure I left with a number, so I stuck it out. Turns out Leslie is a modern dancer by profession, which of course gave us something to talk about, and is also just generally awesome. At one point, Deme walked by and pinched my ass (while, it turns out, making eye contact with Leslie so she would definitely notice!) I'm not sure if they realized I knew him or not... Eventually, Asa came by and said that he and Deme thought 12 was a good time to leave. I agreed, and after he left I just asked for both their numbers...and got them! I left to dance with Deme one more time before leaving. As I said, he is a great dancer, and had been dancing with numerous Derby Girls (including one with a scandalously short Marilyn Monroe dress!) throughout the night. I was trying to let him do his own thing, but I did want to get in some dancing with him before the night was out. He was dancing with a different girl this time, in a black dress or blazer, I'm not sure, so I waited until she started dancing with another guy, and stepped in. Well, we only danced for about a minute when that girl came BACK. She is very lucky I was in such a good mood that night, and also trying not to intrude on Deme's macking, because controlling my raging desire to smack the shit out of her (well, or just push her away and assert my right as his wife...) took a ton of discipline. All I could think was "You CLEARLY do not know who I am, you insolent bitch." Then it was time to go...and we ran into trouble. Turns out, Deme had lost our coat check ticket. I was...well, I got overly emotional. Deme had planned to take me home, and instead now he was sending me off with his coat and Asa, and he would wait until closing when he could get *my* coat (with, may I point out, my ID, my bank card, and my metrocard in it). I got jealous that he would be dancing and having fun while I was upset, plus he didn't seem upset and that bothered me more. Now I realize, I was acting like my mom - emotional when it is not helping anything, whereas he was trying to focus on solutions, usually an approach I use a lot. But I was very irrational, and couldn't keep from thinking (stupid, I know) that if he hadn't been dancing with those girls this wouldn't have happened (I KNOW it's dumb and untrue.) I yelled at him, which just upset and angered him (he couldn't figure out why I was trying to embarrass him *more* than he already was...) and then I left with Asa. The trip was actually good, Ace and I got to talk a lot which we don't get to do often. By the time I got home I felt bad about how I had acted. I couldn't call Deme since his phone still wasn't on. I just hoped he would IM me Monday. Once home, I talked to Connie a bit (it being 2:30, she stayed over), pumped milk for Eva, and went to bed. At 3:30, my front door opens and the kitchen light goes on. I am panicking! Walked into the kitchen and it turns out it was Deme, only an hour behind us as it turned out. But still *very* pissed off at me. He had also managed to bring me home a nice tiara someone had worn at the party. But he would not talk to me at all. I tried to hug him, tried to get him to talk to me, with no success. Luckily, Monday morning he IMed me and we were both fine and apologetic to each other for our respective behavior.
Monday
Not too much happened, but had to leave early as I had not managed to pump enough to replenish an adequate milk supply for Eva's Monday needs. Going home, I saw AJ on the boat (the guy I went out with on St. Patty's Day). Well, I hadn't mentioned it here before but I found out he is a little...close-minded (aka prejudiced.) Not in a *big* way, but I can't handle it even in a little way. So I had to tell him that I can't go out with him again. Gave him the reason and everything, told him I feel sorry for him. I didn't do it in a bad way, and overall it went well. Then I went home, pumped AGAIN, nursed Eva and ran out to do my grocery shopping. Came home, had a great night, and that brings me to today!
So to sum up: Missed Crystal Friday, met (and made out with) Solomon instead, shook my ass in a great class Saturday, managed to do chores and shop for an 80's outfit from scratch Sunday afternoon, and go out to an 80's prom party where I got the numbers of this really hot couple. All in all, a raging success of a weekend. :-D And Monday night was good too.
I am going tonight to the Muddy Cup to read at Poetry Night for the first time in years. I plan to call Crystal and see if she wants to come through for that.
Looking forward to this weekend, I plan to call Leslie and Jason and ask them if they want to go to a
Nikki's performance Saturday night, or perhaps
Afua's performance Friday night, both of which I plan to go to regardless.
