title: Arborvitae
series: Stargate SG-1
rating: PG
word count: ~7,500
notes: for missparker, who is lovely and let me play with this line from Desperation: or Carter’s being a woman set into motion some asinine chain of events that ended with Teal’c having to carry her around a sacred tree nine times before they could gate home.
Thanks to adventurepants for what I would ( Read more... )

I've talked to some silly K-Pop songs about this and I think I'm ready to tell you how much this comment has maaade my entire existence.

Boy am I glad you took that jump and hung in there through the derpy episodes because I want to ride this rainbow of friendship and dreams with you forever. You know there was a time before SG-1 where I was eeeveer-so-slightly intimidated by you? You were just this enigma I thought I'd never have any hope of cracking. BUT SURPRISE. All it took was a moe little face to unite us.

And if you didn't have Stargate it wouldn't have ever even occurred to me to write sacred trees, so yikes. Yikes.

DID YOU ALSO KNOW, okay. The title is amazeballs in about three different ways. Did you know about the anatomy kind of arbor vitae? It is white matter of the cerebellum that, get this, is responsible for bringing SENSORY AND MOTOR INFORMATION TO/FROM THE CEREBELLUM. ARE YOU EVEN KIDDING ME, WORLD OF MEDICAL SCIENCE. Kristen was all, "Whoever named that cerebellum thing knew you would write this one day. THEY KNEWWW."

and I just really like that you made my crude thing into something beautiful.

:')))

The thing I love most about your writing is how carefully each word seems to be chosen. You don't waste your words and therefore every single one becomes important.

You remember on Twitter how I was talking about being so overwhelmed by these reactions oh my god? Thiiis was what started that. Gosh. And it's gratifying to hear you say that, because half the reason I sat on this and went back and forth with it for so long was because I was fretting over word choice. Not a sentence went by that I did not tweak about a thousand times; it was fairly ridonk.

they're a team and they don't leave each other behind.

THEY SURE DO NOT. BROS FOREVER AND EVER AMEN.

The end totally changed from what I originally thought up, but the one thing that stayed exactly the same was hand-holding. nnn.

Not enough hearts in the world to express how glad I am that you loved it and had so so so many feelings over it. Best day ever.
