Ah but it's worth it to watch it move and come to life.
Embarrassing story: We were at the Bradford Animation Festival once and animator Barry Purves was interviewing another animator called Joanna Quinn.
Barry said "My stop motion puppets upstairs. I feel as if they are real living people. I need to go upstairs just to say hi to them sometimes. Do you ever feel that with your work?"
and Joanna replied "No, barry, I'm not that sad."
and the audience all laughed.
My friend and I shifted in our seats...because when he asked that question we were internally nodding.

I know, I'm jealous really. I've done a bit of animation and it's a very satisfying feeling when you see it coming to life.

Well I think to be a good animator you really have to see your creations as real people, don't you? It's very much like acting I think, but you have to act through a drawing, one frame at a time! You have to imbue a 2-dimensional drawing with emotion and make it believeable.
Can't wait to see the finished animation. :)

So Barry was right and Joanna was wrong!

Yeah, I think you're right - she must have just been afraid to admit that she agreed with him in front of a crowd! LOL
