scott and i have decided on the house we want to buy. ok. let me say that again. scott and i have decided on the house we want to buy. who knows if we will get it, but i can say that it is vacant and the owners want to sell it NOW. the two things we cannot change about a house--the square footage and the location----are just wonderful. they have lowered the asking price since we saw it the first time (saw it the second time yesterday)...now to start the scary process which we begin this week. i hope we get a good mortgage rate. i'm already thinking of decor ideas, like a wall of ears, tree branches in room corners, a hammock in a room (ok, maybe the yard), maybe asking a sculptor i know to do a mud sculpture on the front lawn (well, plot of green, barely a lawn), etc. scott is going to kill me :)
one thing is for sure---there will be parties. not every week, but for special occasions, like halloween, my forthcoming 30th birthday, and other fun times. again, scott is going to kill me :)
it is in west philly. all the houses we have seen thus far have been within a few blocks of each other, all within walking distance of the rotunda, and very close to many other beloved places. i do not want to tell you the address or even the block. i do not believe that doing so would jinx things. i don't believe in that. however, i do not want to get my hopes up about this particular house until we have bought it. rest assured that if we do not get it, we will get another. holly has shown us several, and it seems that more keep going up for sale, and the prices are dropping. our lease in this center city box ends in november, so this is the perfect time to be looking actively for a house.
