chocolate covered pretzels in a glass canister
a dozen deep red roses the size of your fist, their fragrance wafting into the living room
clean sheets
new soaps and candles
i have taken a good number of days off, though still not enough. close, though. home feels great right now. it will be hard to go back to work but i vow not to work as hard in 2007 as i did in 2006. work smart, work toward progress, but don't kill myself. strike a balance between work life and home life (which includes social life).
xmas eve was great at my parents'. 14 people came.
xmas was great at the coles'. they gave me way too much, but i accepted. it feels good to be part of a second family.
new year's eve was a lot of fun. there were so many things happening, but i opted for the good ole times. went to the log cabin and laughed, drank, and danced with friends (and a few strangers). memories flooded back. scott and i want to hold a large halloween and/or new year's eve party next year since we will have more space. watch out!
random things happened between xmas and new year's. worked at rotunda 3 days and 1 night. went out to dinner. sent thank-you cards. read about american folk, old time, country, and blues music as well as "hillbilly" radio, barn dances, and mountain bands. longing for mountains i've never seen. spent a lot of time at home, relaxing, refusing to even check email. ate way too much.
sandra and i went out to dinner tonight and came back here to look at her photos of sweden, norway, the czech republic, and greece. i missed her! tried to get together with aharon today. he was in philly for like 8 hours but we just couldn't connect :(
