I called the counseling service for the county that they asked me to, and they're getting back to me, they'll set me up with counseling and a case worker, etc. Might take a week, but if I have another bad episode, I'm supposed to run right back to the ER because THEY can't refuse me.
Oh, yeah, I've got Ford Pinto insurance so I'm gonna get Ford Pinto care. Duh. I think my regular doctor will listen to me, she's pretty good about it. She can't refer me to a shrink..none in this area are taking any new patients, we already determined that (especially with my insurance, cough cough.)
We have a neighbor on unemployment and medicaid, a gay man with hep C who just got diagnosed with lung cancer and maybe multiple sclerosis and they sent him home saying "You're cancer isn't big enough to worry about, we'll see you in 3 months."
My MIL who has Cadillac insurance had a lesion half that size and we immediately put in the best treatment possible.
Our neighbor's partner raised holy hell, turned in the doctors and several of the nurses on staff at the hospital to Medicaid for discrimination and I guess a lawyer got on it pronto. Someone's gonna get sued! nyah nyah. I guess one or two of the nurses was already reprimanded and suspended until a hearing. Gee, that makes me feel good when poor people get a little bite back at the system that's screwing them over.
Well, you know what a total bitch I can turn into when I think I'm being screwed over. *G*
I think it'll come in handy if anyone denies me any treatment I'm eligible for.
They just hate it when you know your rights, don't they?
I'll just keep going back to the effin ER until they HAVE to do something if nothing else works. Hell, I'll make them come get me by ambulance...Medicaid WILL pay for that if there's no one to take me, they have to pay for that too.
I joined an SL (second life) support group for people with depression, bipolar, related issues and their families, and I've gotten lots of good advice on how to get the system to do what they're supposed to for you too.
We can all message each other to talk whenever we need to, it's great. Because it's world wide, you can always find someone to talk to. Seems to help Instant group therapy to keep you off ledges. *G* I've done it for a few people myself, already. That helps too.
