So Malfoy means 'bad faith', but what does this exactly imply? Here's one interpretation I got through a Satre: Bad Faith and Existential Psychoanalysis lecture. This is possibly taken completely out of context lol.. Bad faith is essentially acting in a manner that not only deceives others but also yourself. That is, doing something that you know deep down is against your best interests, but rationalising and convincing yourself that what you're doing is actually the right thing. So by denying that you have a choice, you deny the guilt and difficulty of having the absolute freedom to choose. This of course got me thinking about the Malfoys. It's definitely one interesting idea to keep in mind when interpreting their characters and lives. :)
