Made taco meat last night. The pan was left on the stove, not cleaned. And it was there this morning and still there when I got home from work. The fact that the other 2 adults in the house saw no reason to clean it is another rant for another time. I didn't even eat tacos last night!
Anyway, had to heat the oven for pizza and stuck the crusty pan in the oven. You can't soak cast iron nor use soap to clean it unless you want to start you years of seasoning all over again. So when the oven was heated, a balmy 400 F, took out the pan (Put in the pizza) ran the water till it was hot and scrubbed my beautiful, seasoned from scratch, 10 yr old #12 cast iron pan with a non-scratch brush. All the crusty came off in seconds. I did have to oil it slightly but it is still a beautiful black.
I live to cook with my cast iron. I even have a ceramic stove top and use my cast iron.
Now you know a little more about me and one of my passions.
I'm getting a new grill soon, that is my next cooking passion!
