Greetings flist.
I've got the lurgy. It came on Sunday night and caused me to sleep all through MLK Day (fine way to spend a bank holiday Monday, yay) AND take off work Tuesday. That of course meant a LOT of catch-up at work the rest of the week. And here I am Saturday with running nose, watery eyes, and various other bodily complaints.
But one good thing came last weekend - OUR COUCH! I have literally been aching for a couch. To come home from work and plop down for a few minutes. To watch a show. To drink some tea with my feet curled under.
Now we can finally think about having a group of friends over. Or watching tv comfortably. Or, you know, lounging in our living room instead of just storing things in it and sitting on a folding chair or the bed.

We moved in
We shuffled things around
We make progress
We make more progress (and feign holiday decorating)
And at last WE HAVE ACHIEVED COUCH!
In other news, it's been two months since Dora's passing. I still miss her terribly. But we plan to bring someone new into our home. Calliope is ok on her own. But she spends many hours a day by herself (not counting the stuffed animal menagerie) and T-Rex and I feel it would just be better to have two. She likes to sit in his wheelchair now. She sits guarding us from it at night, and then sits in it in the morning when T-Rex is in the bathroom.
Speaking of T-Rex, he's doing awesomely. He no longer has an aide and will be getting his customized wheelchair on Monday. He also has a walker at home that he uses to practice standing. We've started using the gym in our building a little bit too. He can get on the recumbant stationary bike.
We had a quiet holiday season, opting to stay home on New Years eve and make ice cream. T-Rex bought me the ice cream maker attachment to my KitchenAid for Chanukah. It's a gift for us both, really. ;-)
First batch - vanilla
soft serve fresh from the machine
next up - chocolate
T-Rex makes it pretty
and I also made some Doctor Who ified blueberry muffins this week (that's clockwise from left a TARDIS, angel, cyberman and K-9. We ate the sontaran and dalek before taking the photo)
This, of course, is all to distract from the fact that work is insane. I am very low staffed and we have more pressure than ever to move people out. Here's hoping the challenges of 2015 are nothing compared to what we had in 2014.
