Interesting- one friend on my flist is an African American trans woman, but I don't know what experience she's had of the situations you mention.
Sadly and as you know from my own experiences with academics researching teh tranz, not all such people respect one's experience and day to day existence :o/

In my entire life I only met one trans woman who was in the sex trade and she had a degree and was a concert standard pianist- it mostly wasn't sex at all but lonely blokes wanting an intelligent woman to talk to and be with for a spell which says an awful lot about present day society imo :o/
It is one of my life's ambitions to be able to kick a red top journo in the balls (although that might be difficult in the case of Julie Bindel :o)
